Tool for the Field: Lesson Plan for One Student

This field tool provides a lesson plan format to be used in designing a lesson for one student. Paraprofessionals do not typically develop lesson plans, but instead use plans developed by their supervising teachers. Nevertheless, knowing how to develop a lesson plan is a useful skill, especially for paraprofessionals who are beginning to take on a co-teaching role.

  1. Use the template (and guiding questions)–click here–to develop a lesson plan to help one student learn a reading skill.
  2. Once you teach the lesson, reflect on what parts of it seemed to work well and what parts might benefit from improvements.
