Check out this list and questionnaire describing key components of classroom behavior management practices. classroomwide_practices_assessment
- Give time and attention to positive behavior (Reinforcement)
- Use consistent schedules and patterns that keep the classroom experience safe and predictable (Prevention)
- Set up consistent routines within routines within routines (the smallest tasks should be analyzed and thought through). (Prevention)
- Teach the GO behaviors or the specific expected behaviors (Teaching)
- Make your teaching explicit, especially when it comes to social skills and interactions (Teaching)
Spend time with your supervising educator asking yourselves the questions in the linked assessment above. When you find gaps make a common and team focused plan to fill these gaps through prevention, teaching or reinforcement.
